It is a privilege to join an organisation that has spent more than twelve years making the case for a way of building that much of the industry has only recently taken seriously. prefabAUS was advocating for offsite construction long before the housing conversation caught up with it.

Its case for prefabrication is a practical one. Building off site decreases construction timeframes and construction waste, while increasing quality, productivity and affordability. That argument has stayed consistent for over a decade.
The advocacy is where the influence sits. prefabAUS welcomed the passage of the New South Wales Building Bill, which introduced a clear definition of prefabricated building work into the regulatory framework. It has also been active around the New South Wales Modern Methods of Construction Industry Expansion Program, Western Australia's $49 million Housing Innovation Fund, and the Australian Building Codes Board's proposed national certification scheme for manufacturers using modern methods of construction.

Joining places us alongside the manufacturers, suppliers, researchers and regulators shaping how prefab is built and governed in this country.
