Who is Elsewhere Pods
Elsewhere Pods is a fast-growing tiny home and modular construction company based in Melbourne’s inner seaside suburbs, operating nationally, and increasingly internationally. Our eye-catching, flat-packed pods are designed to inspire, and our innovative prefabricated system lets us chase a bold mission: developing a luxury eco-tourism industry and improving housing affordability. This is no small task, but we love what we do, and we’re laser-focused.
We design, manufacture and install high-end modular studios and homes that are both stunning and genuinely affordable. Our pods reach sites across every Australian state, New Zealand and the USA, from backyard studios and luxury granny flats to eco-tourism accommodation and event structures. You may have already seen our work on The Block, or on the shelves at Bunnings. With dozens of projects in production at any one time and a next-generation building platform on the way, we’re scaling fast, and getting every install right the first time matters more than ever.
About the Role
This is a pivotal, newly shaped role that sits at the heart of our build process. It’s part installation leader, part hands-on build expert, part office-based operator. We’re looking for someone to take the reins and take the role further: closer to the office, with real ownership of the trades, materials, training and quality systems that determine whether every pod lands beautifully, on time, and right the first time.
You’ll be the bridge between the factory, the office and the field. You’ll lead installations on the ground when it counts, build and manage our national network of trades, own the ordering of install materials, train our crews in the Elsewhere system, and drive the quality assurance that keeps rectifications to an absolute minimum. You’ll also have a genuine voice in product development, feeding what you learn on site straight back into how our pods are designed and built.
If you’re a foreman, site manager or installation lead who knows construction inside-out and wants to step up into a role with breadth, ownership and influence, this is it.
What you'll do
Lead installations & manage the build
- Plan and lead the on-site assembly of our pods, coordinating trades and sequencing works to deliver to our premium standard.
- Conduct pre-site inspections to assess access, terrain and services, flagging challenges early and solving them before they hit the schedule.
- Troubleshoot technical and logistical issues in real time, keeping builds on track and on budget.
Own trades & materials
- Build, manage and grow a reliable national network of subcontractors and trades, onboarding, scheduling and holding them to our standards and rates.
- Take ownership of material ordering and procurement for each install, making sure the right materials and fixtures arrive on site, on time, every time.
- Work with suppliers to keep quality high and costs sharp.
Train the team
- Develop and deliver training that brings install crews and trade partners up to speed on the Elsewhere building system.
- Build the repeatable processes, SOPs and know-how that let our quality scale as we grow across Australia and beyond.
Drive quality & reduce rectifications
- Own build quality end-to-end: set the standard, build the QA checkpoints, and catch issues before they ever reach a customer.
- Lead post-installation inspections and any rectification works, then close the loop so the same issue never happens twice.
- Relentlessly drive down rectification rates as a core measure of your success.
Shape the product
- Feed buildability, efficiency and quality insights from the field back into product development and our next-generation platform.
- Collaborate with our design, operations and project management teams to make every pod easier and better to build.
What you'll bring
Essential
- Solid experience in residential, commercial or modular construction, ideally in a foreman, site management or installation leadership role.
- Strong hands-on build knowledge and a sharp eye for quality and finish.
- A proven ability to lead trades and crews in a fast-paced environment.
- Sound knowledge of construction methods and the NCC / relevant building codes.
- Confidence managing materials, ordering and supplier relationships.
- Excellent communication and the ability to train and motivate others.
- A proactive, solutions-driven approach and the resilience to handle whatever a site throws at you.
- A willingness to travel regularly. Our installs span every Australian state, New Zealand and the USA, so getting to site is a core requirement of this role.
Highly regarded
- Experience with prefabricated, modular or flat-pack construction systems.
- Trade qualification and/or construction management qualification.
- Experience operating machinery such as excavators.
- A genuine interest in product improvement and doing things better.
What you get
- A newly shaped, high-impact role where your standards directly shape our reputation, our product and our customers’ experience.
- Access to Elsewhere Pods’ “Shared Success” profit-sharing model and Employee Share Ownership Program (ESOP).
- A competitive salary package, with vehicle and tools of trade on the table for the right candidate.
- Real pathways for growth and leadership as we scale nationally and internationally.
- The chance to work with an innovative, industry-leading team with a track record of achieving the impossible, solving some of society’s most pressing challenges as we go.
We work like an elite sporting team, where customer outcomes, speed, execution and a passion for problem-solving drive everything we do. If that sounds like you, you’ll fit right in.
