Kooralbyn Tiny Home Build: Off-Grid Living Meets Luxury Modular Design

Kooralbyn Tiny Home Build: Off-Grid Living Meets Luxury Modular Design

A two-storey tiny home designed to blend into nature, deliver more space, and unlock new possibilities.

At Elsewhere Pods, no two builds are ever quite the same and the Kooralbyn project is a perfect example of what happens when design, land, and ambition align.

The owner had already embraced off-grid living with the first Elsewhere pod, an 8-metre single-width unit that served as a compact, sustainable home. After experiencing the benefits first-hand, they decided to unlock more value from the property by adding a second pod.

This new build does more than add capacity. It opens up passive income opportunities by allowing the owner to host short stays through Elsewhere Eco-Resorts. It also demonstrates how our modular builds can be adapted to suit rugged terrain, multiple use cases, and big views.

The solution: Build up, not out

We designed and delivered a custom 8-metre double-width pod just up the slope from the original 8m tiny home. This time built over two storeys, with an elevated deck, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a show-stopping bathroom view.

Everything arrived flat-packed and was assembled on site over two weeks. Despite the terrain, our modular system meant the build was fast, efficient, and low impact on the land.

A view worth designing around

The pod’s location takes full advantage of the ridge-line outlook. We framed key interior spaces — including the tub and lounge — to face the valley, with large glass panels that bring nature inside. The deck extends the living area and provides a sun-drenched spot for coffee or stargazing.
