Our winning design in Airbnb's OMG! Fund.

As the demand for unique and immersive travel experiences continues to grow, Airbnb has answered the call by launching a design competition to create the most unusual accommodations on the planet. We are thrilled to announce that Elsewhere, in collaboration with Natalie Decarne from our team, has been selected as one of the 100 winners!

Out of tens of thousands of entries from around the world, only four Australian designs were chosen to bring their unconventional concepts to life, so we are honored to have been included. Our winning design, the "Kangaroom", is a combination of Elsewhere's modern and minimalist Pods with a cantilevered glass structure, offering a seamless connection with the outdoors and an unparalleled immersive experience.

At Elsewhere, we prioritize sustainability, and we're proud that our design ethos was recognized by Airbnb. The "Kangaroom" was crafted to minimize its impact on the environment while still providing a luxurious and unique experience for our guests. We hope this project will inspire others in the industry to create eco-friendly accommodations that celebrate the natural world.

We are grateful to receive up to USD $100,000 (about AUD $144,000) from Airbnb's OMG! Fund to make our vision a reality. We are excited to bring our design to life and share it with the world.

Airbnb's competition encouraged architects, designers, and DIYers to come up with imaginative and captivating stays in its OMG! category. Our submission stood out for its innovative design and emphasis on sustainability, and we are honored to be a part of this initiative to develop immersive and eco-friendly accommodations.

As Elsewhere Pods, we are excited to contribute to the creation of unconventional and sustainable lodging options, and we are grateful for the opportunity to showcase our creativity and vision to the world. Once complete Kangaroom will be available on Airbnb and will also be used to showcase what is possible with Elsewhere Pods.
